I am proud to be given the opportunity to represent Expert Citizens CIC in this commission. Expert Citizens are a Community Interest Company run by and for people with lived experience of any form of social disadvantage. We exist because we care about people and the world we live in. Our belief is that we can make a difference and that everyone has potential. We understand that everyone has an individual experience and treat each other with respect and dignity. Everyone is welcomed with kindness, humility, and love. We challenge perceptions through honesty with ourselves and each other. Our belief is that fun is a key part of relationships and helps to build trust, creativity and openness.
My own lived experiences have made me passionate about seeking systems change and supporting people to use their voice. I have been a member of Expert Citizens for 8 years and have been involved in many systems change activities. I am also a member of the NECG(National Expert Citizens Group) and in the process of becoming a board member for the APLE(Addressing Poverty with Lived Experience) collective.
